Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a type of psychedelic therapy that takes advantage of Ketamine's ability to change the way our brains function and potentially heal long-standing symptoms.
Ketamine has been shown to reduce the effects of PTSD, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, substance abuse, addictive impulses, mental rigidity, and negative self talk to name only a few areas. This includes treatment-resistant symptoms and diagnosis. Ketamine does this while increasing insight, motivation, mental clarity, mindfulness, presence, self satisfaction, general wellbeing, and an ability to be with the ebbs and flows of daily life. In other words it has the potential to change your world!
While Ketamine is a powerful medicine all on its own, the journey through this deep work often involves difficult moments, the need for additional support, and someone to hold the ‘space’ in order to allow you to drop in fully. By using Ketamine to supplement traditional therapy you may find that you make more progress in a handful of sessions than you have in years. This can be its own unique challenge as you will learn to integrate a great amount of change rather quickly. And you will do so in a world that has not changed alongside you.
Ketamine has incredible benefits when used as a tool to assist you on your path towards wholeness, towards an internal coherence and resonance. In my time of using Ketamine for personal healing, and joining with others doing the same, I have seen the ability of this medicine to bypass our 'normal' conscious thinking and access a deeper internal wisdom that is incredibly powerful and personal. Whether you are interested in integrating a previous psychedelic experience, or want to begin this journey together, feel free to reach out and we can get started.
Along the way, you may face fears, overcome internal obstacles, or simply find peace with your past. KAP is an intensive, challenging, beautiful, and expansive practice that has the potential to change your life.
It is of deep service to you and your journey to have a trusted and experienced professional at your side to help support you at each step.
I am here to help.
Sample KAP Process
Session 1
Meet and greet to explore KAP. This includes a 15 minute free consultation.
Sessions 2-3
In these sessions we will work on further exploring the use of Ketamine for your healing; building foundational understanding, discussing set and setting, identifying goals, and co-creating skills to keep you safe and regulated. During this time you will be asked to get a medical evaluation and Ketamine prescription from a medical provider. I can provide referrals as needed.
Sessions 4 - 10
Each of these sessions will be medicine sessions. While 6 sessions is often used as the standard number for KAP we can be flexible on adding more as needed. Each session is scheduled for 2 hours. During this time we will start with orienting to the session and developing an intention. We will work on exploring how your body is responding to the intention and work on any regulation skills needed. The journey itself may take approximately one hour and we will have some time as you come back down to discuss your experience. We will have a follow up integration session the next day.
You will find there is strength, courage,
wisdom, curiosity, and playfulness here.
Important details to consider.
The session outline above is only an example and can vary person to person.
A ride to and from each session is required. Clients will not be able to use a vehicle for the rest of the day following treatment.
Please note that KAP is not for everyone and you must be medically cleared to be able to work with the medicine.
KAP is not a one-size-fits-all solution to every problem and I want to make sure this is the right next step towards your goals and that you understand the nature of the medicine and the commitment to the work outside of the sessions as well.
Either one of us may choose to pause, slow down, increase, or stop the Ketamine work at any time for any reason.
As of January 1, 2024, I have 2 years of working directly with Ketamine and KAP in a clinical setting and continue to work with psychedelic medicine personally and professionally. In addition to completing a training at AIMS in Seattle (LINK) for KAP, my work is supported by my training in Sensorimotor/ Somatic Psychotherapy, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional training, Internal Family Systems training, my personal work with Buddhist/ mindfulness/ spiritual practices, my work with addiction/recovery, and a deep interest in exploring altered states of consciousness.
